Automatic coffee dispenser creates new shopping experience

This fully automated vending machine in the Riem Arcaden in Munich creates a new coffee shopping experience.

Customers can compose their own individual coffee selection using a touchscreen. A gantry robot picks the selected varieties and places them in the dispenser.

The challenge was to ensure that the gantry robot moves fast enough so that customers only have to wait a short time. At the same time, the prerequisite was that the system should operate as quietly as possible. Thanks to the installed motion plastic components from igus, both requirements could be met.
