Camera based quality inspection with igus ReBeL

After the printing process, each paper is carefully turned and inspected to detect and prevent any potential production errors early on. This thorough examination is crucial to ensure that each sheet meets high-quality standards. Currently, every tenth paper is manually checked, with trained staff examining the sheets for errors such as printing defects, tears, or other irregularities.

To optimize this process and increase efficiency, a robot is now being used to perform the visual inspection. This robot is equipped with a high-resolution camera mounted on its forearm. The camera enables precise and rapid inspection of each paper by capturing and analyzing detailed images. The use of this technology enhances the accuracy of quality control while simultaneously reducing the workload for the staff.

This solution enabled quality control to be automated. This changeover has led to a considerable increase in efficiency. The robotic arm is able to carry out quality control precisely and continuously.
